I love these drinks in the morning. Today, I put 1 cup of filtered water which gave it a thinner more juice-like texture, banana, strawberries, spinach, flax seeds, a drizzle of agave, ashwagandha powder, and some herbs. I also added a teaspoon of unsweetened coconut which probably does more to the flavor than the agave. The flax seeds seem to be the cause of the unappealing color until enough spinach is added. You don’t have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces – just good food from fresh ingredients. Julia Child This year I am planning a more formal Home Ec course for DD.  In previous years, we cooked meals together, the kids would be responsible for cooking 1 meal a week which we would plan together, prep and they would cook and serve.  We had one year without a kitchen and only small appliances, a lot of take out and rotisserie chicken.  Last year, DD would help me occasionally try out new and interesting recipes.  The picture at left is of a dish DD and I cooked.  DD did the assembly, part of the prep and some frying. I plan to use an ecourse from The Nourished Kitchen: How to Cook Real Food for the first semester and supplement by creating menus with new recipes using mainly locally grown or in season …Read more
