Dreams are illustrations… from the book your soul is writing about you. Marsha Norman I hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday.  Ours was wonderful: lunch and dinner were delicious and fun to prepare.  The most difficult ingredient to find was canned tuna packed in olive oil, I guess I really do not use canned goods often enough and thought it would be readily available.  We found one brand with tuna packed in “vegetable oil” but no olive oil, we will have to venture out a little further and see what we can find.  A trip to the Old Port is long overdue anyway… I wanted to share some of our crafts: a card DD made for our friends and a picture I made for DD’s room.  For DS’s graduation, we could not find the graduation cards he had in mind and we decided to create them.  We lucked …Read more

“Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.” — Pascal DD and I have a fun day planned filled with crafts, cooking, and snuggling up on the couch with a good book!  We are planning our week with fun activities with our friends as well, enjoying this 43F weather which feels wonderful next to single digits we have had.  No snow in the forecast either until next week… the first normal schedule week this winter! We went through our cookbooks yesterday and planned our week: Monday: Tuna tapenade for lunch, on heart shaped toast. Dinner: Ina Garten’s Bangers and Mustard Mash, a side of maple roasted root vegetables.  A delicious berry mousse for dessert! Tuesday: Leftovers and quinoa salad Wednesday: Salmon with fresh herbs, a rice dish using what ever …Read more

For the soul

The man who foolishly does me wrong, I will return to him the protection of my most ungrudging love; and the more evil comes from him, the more good shall go from me. Buddha (563 – 483 BC) The blog is all dressed up this week to celebrate one of our favorite days of the year: Valentine’s Day!  A day to celebrate Love… what could be better than that.  Though it is meant for lovers, I think Love is to be celebrated in all its forms.  DH took “his girls” out for dinner last night, DD and I will cook and bake Monday something special and delicious.  On Tuesday we will wrap up some goodies to send to DS who is still recovering from his stomach flu and hopes to be able to indulge later this week.  Love is what saves us from anger and hate, it heals our wounds …Read more

What a wonderful time of year! I love fall almost as much as I love spring. The colors were amazing this year and I have enjoyed them even more with the frequent trips to pick up DS at college. So we set out to decorate our house for the first post-construction Holiday and did not manage to do it all but had a beautiful home to welcome the 4 Trick-or-treaters! We did not empty and carve the pumpkins but carved into them. We had 5 leafy pumpkins and one smiling Cat Warrior jack-o-lantern. Most of the gourdes disappeared long before Sunday as the chipmunks and squirrels nibbled on them. I got the idea for the pumpkins in a Gooseberry Patch magazine and also on Martha Stewart’s site. DD and I found too many ideas on the web for one year or to keep as bookmarks and are now using Living …Read more
