Crafting

“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.” ~ Carl Jung It has been a busy summer here: DD is finishing her school year, DS is home for the summer, and I started school as well (more on that in a later post), while DH took a few days off now and then to join us in some summer fun. DD has inherited my tendency to start many craft projects at once and not finishing them: there are too many fun projects to do and we just want to make them all. If you are a serious crafter, you know what I mean. In an effort to slow that tendency, we declared August “finish craft projects month”. And more than halfway through the month we are are well on …Read more

Blog news

“If we learn to open our hearts, anyone, including the people who drive us crazy, can be our teacher.” ― Pema Chödrön It has been a long time since my last post.  This is due partly to what life sent us over the past months and my pondering whether to continue the blog.  One of the main reason for debating the survival of the blog was the incredible amount of work spam creates, fake users, and abuse of every kind which unfortunately in now common place in cyberspace but impedes the progress and leaves a sour taste in your mouth on some days.  The advent of internet has opened so many doors but the problem of security, unscrupulous people have unfortunately also made it much less user friendly than it should be.  For our schooling, it has opened a world of possibilities, connection with other like-minded people but the anonymity has facilitated the work …Read more

In the kitchen

“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” Soren Kierkegaard The week is over, DS was home for spring break which he unfortunately spent healing from a flu-like virus.  He got all the rest he needed, he is now ready to head back to college.  The weekend is therefore dedicated baking!  Yesterday I spent the day cooking and I need to thank all the wonderful food bloggers out there for their talent and willingness to share.  I am a recipe cook, I do not create really in the kitchen so I am always looking for something fun and new to try. For breakfast we tested Silvana’s Kitchen’s Gluten-Free Sticky Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes with Maple Icing (minus the icing, they were plenty sweet for us without).  Absolutely delicious and sinful!  I took a small shortcut with Kind Arthur Flour gluten-free pancake mix which we were planning to …Read more

Global Healing Meditation for Japan

For the soul

Where there is love there is life. Gandhi (1869 – 1948) It has been hard to find the desire or inspiration to write the past week.  The pictures from Japan, the incredible pain and suffering the Japanese people have had to endure are heartbreaking.  I strongly believe in the power of prayer, no matter what its form.  As we all help in any material and physical way we can, praying for them, sending them healing energy to support them emotionally will also mean and help a lot.  The Deepak Chopra Center scheduled a Live Global Healing Meditation Monday, March 21 at 8:30 p.m. (EDT).  These global meditations are an incredibly powerful experience, and I believe they do help to support those we keep in our hearts.  Join if you can, I know the time is not the easiest for those overseas.
