“If you would create something, you must be something.” ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 – 1832) After a long break I have decided to resume the blog: the death of my nephew coupled with some health issues, and more of life’s happenings had my attention focused on so many other things.  The spamming was time consuming and I have temporarily disabled the registration page until I can learn more about Feedburner. Somehow August always marks a return to the craft room, maybe that fall feeling in the morning air centers us more on home and “nesting”.  As last year this is “finish craft projects” month and a chance to revisit the organization of the studio.  I have decided to work slowly on making it even cozier, calming as I plan on spending a lot more time in it this winter. Our first finished project is this sea glass wreath; …Read more

“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.” ~ Carl Jung It has been a busy summer here: DD is finishing her school year, DS is home for the summer, and I started school as well (more on that in a later post), while DH took a few days off now and then to join us in some summer fun. DD has inherited my tendency to start many craft projects at once and not finishing them: there are too many fun projects to do and we just want to make them all. If you are a serious crafter, you know what I mean. In an effort to slow that tendency, we declared August “finish craft projects month”. And more than halfway through the month we are are well on …Read more

Dreams are illustrations… from the book your soul is writing about you. Marsha Norman I hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday.  Ours was wonderful: lunch and dinner were delicious and fun to prepare.  The most difficult ingredient to find was canned tuna packed in olive oil, I guess I really do not use canned goods often enough and thought it would be readily available.  We found one brand with tuna packed in “vegetable oil” but no olive oil, we will have to venture out a little further and see what we can find.  A trip to the Old Port is long overdue anyway… I wanted to share some of our crafts: a card DD made for our friends and a picture I made for DD’s room.  For DS’s graduation, we could not find the graduation cards he had in mind and we decided to create them.  We lucked …Read more

What a wonderful time of year! I love fall almost as much as I love spring. The colors were amazing this year and I have enjoyed them even more with the frequent trips to pick up DS at college. So we set out to decorate our house for the first post-construction Holiday and did not manage to do it all but had a beautiful home to welcome the 4 Trick-or-treaters! We did not empty and carve the pumpkins but carved into them. We had 5 leafy pumpkins and one smiling Cat Warrior jack-o-lantern. Most of the gourdes disappeared long before Sunday as the chipmunks and squirrels nibbled on them. I got the idea for the pumpkins in a Gooseberry Patch magazine and also on Martha Stewart’s site. DD and I found too many ideas on the web for one year or to keep as bookmarks and are now using Living …Read more
